POLICIES

In order to ensure a safe and productive atmosphere at Danceworx Studios, all of our clients and potential clients should read and understand our policies prior to the beginning of classes.

Payments

At Danceworx, we have three billing terms per year. There will be no refunds issued. Withdrawl from the program should be sent in writing 3 weeks prior to the new term.

The billing times are as follows:

  • September
  • December
  • March

Payment is due the first day of class at the beginning of each term.

Payment methods include online credit card, email transfer, cash or post-dated cheques.

  • A $10 surcharge will be levied on unpaid fees
  •  A $20 surcharge on all NSF cheques
  • We accept, cash, cheque, money order or email transfer. Any payments made by cash or money order should be placed in an envelope clearly marked with whom the payment is for and to whom the receipt should be issued.
  • No refunds will be issued for missed classes by a student; however they can join in a similar class the following week to make up for the missed time
  • Accumulation of missed time will not be allowed

In the event of questionable weather, Danceworx will update the Facebook page and website. Unfortunately, classes lost due to weather and other circumstances beyond our control, will not be rescheduled. A request can be made to join in a similar class the following week.

Studio Policies

  • Students should be dropped off no earlier than five minutes prior to the start of class
  • There will be no supervision during this time
  • Parents are encouraged to drop their children off at class and pick them up after.
  • Absolutely no running allowed in the studio
  • Gum will not be permitted, as it is a choking hazard
  • Please bring only water bottles to class. Juice and carbonated beverages are not allowed in the studio
  • Cell phones must have ringers turned off and be placed in the appropriate place on the teacher’s desk or left in the dressing room.
  • Once costumes are distributed, they are the responsibility of the student.  This includes alterations.

OBSERVED HOLIDAYS

The studio will be closed for the following dates. You are not charged for these missed lessons.

  • National Day For Truth: Saturday September 30
  • Thanksgiving: Monday October 9
  • Halloween: Tuesday October 31
  • Remembrance Day: Saturday November 11
  • Christmas break: Close Friday December 15 reopen Friday January 5
  • Easter break: Close Friday March 29 reopen Friday April 5

ANNUAL RECITAL

Our annual recital will be held on Friday May 24 and Saturday May 25, 2024 at the Princess Sheila Nageira Theatre, Carbonear. Show times TBD.

Dress Code

Each style of dance has a dress code.

Please see below for what your child is required to wear to each class.

Ballet (Including Tiny Dancers and Creative Movers)

Pink tights, body suit and pink ballet slippers. Hair must be in a bun.

Creative Hoppers

Bodysuit, tights or leggings (colour optional), indoor sneakers for studio use only.

Creative Tappers

Bodysuit, tights or leggings (colour optional), black tap shoes.

 Tap/Jazz 

Body suit, tights or leggings (any style and color) and beige jazz shoes  or black tap shoes. Hair must be out of the dancer’s face.

Modern 

Body suit, flesh-coloured tights, bare feet or foot undeez.

Parent and Tot

Comfortable clothing such as leggings or sweatpants and T-shirt or tank top. Ballet slippers are optional.

Hip Hop

Comfortable clothes such as sweatpants, tank tops, tees or sweatshirt. Sneakers with a flexible sole (not Converse-type) for indoor use only.

Acro

Bodysuit of any style or colour. Bare feet.

Please Note

Sneakers for Hip Hop must be indoor use sneakers only. Sneakers worn outside will not be permitted in the studio.

All dance shoes must fit properly.

No jewelry is to be worn during class.

Street clothing will not be tolerated in class.
